electrical scooter
Montreal - Thursday, September 11, 2025

Do you ride an electric scooter to school or to your friends' houses?

Here are some rules to follow to ensure your own safety and that of others who share the road with you.

You must:

  • Be 14 years of age or older (and be able to prove it; carry identification that specifies your age)
  • Wear a properly fastened and adjusted helmet
  • Ride carefully and like a cyclist (e.g., on the right side of the road or in the bike lane, in the direction of traffic)

You MUST NOT:

  • Ride as if you were on a race track (the maximum speed of your device must be 25 km/h or less)
  • Ride on a road where the speed limit is over 50 km/h
  • Ride on the sidewalk
  • Carry a passenger (among other things, so as not to affect your balance)
  • Wear headphones (even in one ear)
  • Use your cell phone
