The ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû will host a by invitation only conference on the impact of Bill 96 on Thursday, April 27 ( 7 pm to 9 pm). This will be broadcast live for the public at /emsb/about/governance/webcast.

A focus for discussion will be Bill 96 vis-a-vis our education system and competitiveness.  One panel will focus on the impact on our English elementary and secondary schools while another will look at the impact on CEGEPs, businesses and the community.  Mark Power, whose firm is representing the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû in a court case against the law, will speak, as will ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû Chair Joe Ortona; Nancy Beattie, Campus Director, Champlain College; Russell Copeman, Executive Director, Quebec English School Boards Association; Lloyd M. Segal, President and CEO of Repare Therapeutics; Christopher Shannon, Head of LCC and Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the Quebec Independent Schools Association; and Beryl Wajsman, Editor-in-chief, The Suburban Newspaper. 

“It has been about 10 months since Bill 96 was adopted, and its impact is being felt throughout our education system as well as our community,” stated Mr. Ortona. “This conference is an opportunity to begin assessing the situation and planning for what lies ahead.”
