ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû Accepts Independent Report on Provincial History Course
On Wednesday evening, the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû Council of Commissioners accepted the independent History Experts Committee report on the revised Secondary III and IV compulsory History of Québec and Canada program.
The revised curriculum raised a number of issues of concern to the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû (ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû) Council of Commissioners. Given these concerns, in June, the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû asked an independent History Experts Committee to review the content of this program as well as the Ministry-approved English-language textbooks.
“I hope that the work that has been done by our school board and the independent committee of experts will help guide the provincial government to make the appropriate changes to the program,” said ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬¸ßÇ帣Àû Chairman Angela Mancini. “It is important that our students understand and appreciate the diverse and rich history of our province.”
